It started in a garage.
A garage, a Harley, and a better way to light the road. That’s where MOONSMC began.
THE BEGINNING
From my garage to your bike.
I started MOONSMC in my garage in 2014. I was riding the local back canyons with a group of friends, and better lighting was something I wanted for my own Harley.
At the time, the LED headlight upgrade I was looking at from Harley-Davidson cost around $500. That sent me looking for another option.
After a lot of research and working with a supplier, I released our first product: a plug-and-play LED replacement bulb. It gave riders bright LED lighting for a fraction of the cost of replacing the whole headlight.
In those early days, I’d carry LED bulbs in my saddlebags and sell them at Cook’s Corner, a local biker bar. The business was growing one rider and one conversation at a time.
In 2015, MOONSMC became an LLC and we launched the website. What started as a solution for my own bike grew into a business as more riders found us.

We ride what we sell.
MOONSMC is a family-owned business run by people who ride. We ride our local canyons, we ride to Sturgis, and we ride all over the country.
That time on the bike is a big part of how we develop and test products. A ride can show us where a light needs to perform better, how a pair of gloves feels after hours on the road, or what could make the next trip easier.
From lighting to gloves, parts and gear, our product ideas come from using our bikes and paying attention. Research and development is part of the work, and putting in the miles is part of that process.

We’re based in San Juan Capistrano, California, with the riding community that helped get this business started still close to us.
We’ve set up at Born-Free every year since Born-Free 6. It’s a chance to catch up with riders, meet the people using our products, and hear about their bikes and the roads they’ve been on.
Those conversations matter to us. So does every order that lets our family keep doing this work.
